We see all of our patients face to face in the outpatient department at Nuffield Health Bournemouth. This allows for a safe environment in which to conduct the allergy testing required to suit everyone’s personal needs. This also ensures that the first dose of immunotherapy is given in a safe clinical environment.
IMPORTANT: Prior to any testing, you need to attend an initial consultation, which can be either over the phone or face to face. If face to face, then the skin prick testing can be done at the same time.

Private patch testing
Patch testing is performed to diagnose contact dermatitis. If you have a local skin reaction when you come in contact with an allergen, your skin may be sensitised to this. This may happen with substances such as cosmetics (including nail polish), rubber, gloves, hair dyes, etc.
The pricing for this starts from £400 but depends on the allergens tested and the number of follow up visits required.
IgE Blood Test Prices
If an IgE blood test or other blood tests are required either for personal preference or clinical reasons, this is chargeable at a cost price. The payment is to be made directly to Nuffield Hospital.
ALEX2 Allergy Test
The ALEX2 test is a home testing kit for 295 different allergens and individual allergen components. The cost is £295 and this includes two way shipping. We ship the kit to you, you take the blood sample at home through a finger prick, and then you ship it to our lab. The turnaround time is usually 2-3 work days. You will then receive a detailed report from our lab in a PDF format.
The price does not include a consultation with our allergist. We recommend you book this in addition to the test so you can better understand the results and how they might apply to you. This consultation costs £250 and can be done over the telephone.
Oral Food Challenge
An oral food challenge can be performed if there is uncertainty regarding any food allergies. An IgE or skin prick test may be required prior to this depending on the history and clinical presentation. The food challenge can be performed at our clinic in hours and the costs will vary. Please enquire.
